Football player running with ball

A football player, in 7th or 8th grade, may choose to play for both the Brighton Junior Barons' (BJB) A team and a modified football team.

A league rule dictates that the BJB is allowed a maximum of 7 modified players (playing both modified football and BJB football).

If more than seven modified football players register for the BJB, the player with the most seasons of BJB experience has priority. In the event that two players have the same amount of BJB experience, the older player shall be given priority in selection.

This rule pertains to modified football only. Other modified sports are not affected by this rule.

I am considering having my son play both BJB and Modified football, what should I expect?

The BJB A team begins training on August 1, 2012. Players will practice Monday through Thursday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am until noon. When the new school year begins, BJB practice will be limited to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am until 11:30 am. Games are on Sundays in September and October.

Modified football begins practicing when the school year begins. They have practices, or games, Monday - Saturday.

The school day of a boy playing both football teams will typically be like this:

7:45 - 2:05 School day

2:15 - 2:45 Sports study hall

3:00 - 5:00 Modified football practice (Monday-Friday)

5:30 - 7:00 BJB practice (Tuesday-Thursday)

Saturdays:

8:30 - 10:00 Modified practice

10:00 - noon BJB practice

Because modified football has practice, or games, six days a week, and BJB has games on Sundays, a boy playing on both teams has football seven days a week.

Please note: There are NO refunds of BJB registration fees after May 30, 2012.
